I’ve heard a lot of what you wrote about Chief Wahoo McDaniel and your story just brought back a lot of memories. I never met nor got to see him wrestle live but I remember watching him when he was wrestling for the N.W.A. and saw a lot of his matches with the Nature Boy Ric Flair. He was an awesome man inside and outside of the ring. Greatly missed but never forgotten. They say your not dead until your forgotten and that be the case Chief Wahoo will live on forever at least in this wrestling fans heart. R.I.P. Champ

I became good friends with Wahoo when him and Zac lived in Charlotte. I really enjoyed your article. I sure do miss the Chief. We had a lot of enjoyable rounds of golf and a lot of fun just hanging out. It would be nice to see Zac again also.

A great story. I actually got to meet Wahoo several times. He was friends with my uncle and he used to come down to the farm and fish and hunt with him. The first time I met him, I was about 5-6 years old and he asked me if I wanted a knuckle sandwich! I will never forget it.

Nice article. Wahoo was one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid and I got the chance to hang out with him in the dressing room one night during the prelim matches getting ready to wrestle Greg Valentine in the 70′s. I was only 9 or 10 years old, but I remember him giving me a shoulder ride walking around the hallways and hanging out while he got taped up. He couldn’t have been nicer and it is one of my fondest memories as a child going to wrestling events.

Wahoo was a awesome wrestler. He would pick up Melinda everytime he saw her and carry her around with him. I’m doing a Mini Bio – Memory book on Wahoo. I have some great pictures of him that was sent to me. I hope to have the outline done so I can take it with me when I go to the legends reunion this year.
